Training Ground for Thinking

I want to develop a training ground for my thinking. In an age of ubiquitous output, I want to lean into developing my thinking through the written word. I want to create a practice of writing and do it the old fashioned way. I intend to write something and publish it every week.

I have been thinking about writing online for some time. The final push I needed came from an idea from Nabeel S. Qureshi on Jackson Dahl’s Dialectic podcast, The Will to Think. The willingness to think through something deeply and fight your brain’s insistence on taking the easy road is a trait I desire to develop. With the advent of instant answers to any question, I find it hugely important to develop my ability to think and deal with the inevitable friction of wrestling with ideas.

The topics I engage in will vary but I plan to take on ideas surrounding space and place and its effects on people including city design and urban planning, as well as housing and modular building. I also plan to explore AI from a philosophical perspective and how its influence will come into contact with what it means to be human. I will also write about more tactical things including money management for my sister and ACL recovery principles.

Parting thought on AI: I want to use AI as a tool to help me refine my thinking and writing but not to take it over. I will use AI as an editor but will pass it over when it comes to generation. Every word will be my consideration.
